--Apex II's-- I was surprised by how large these were. I actually intended on purchasing the Apex II's, but the size threw me off a bit.
While very handsome, I'm not blessed with an overly large 2 channel room, so these would not be ideal for me. They were however, fantastic. That back-firing driver really adds some spooky depth to the image. I heard keyboards dangling above and waay behind in the sound stage which was a little unbelievable. They felt similar to the HT8's - but like the HT8's were to the HT3's, these were even 'more' compared to the HT8's, but less of an increment. If you have the room, you'd be hard pressed to ask for more of anything with these.

I had been using my Apex with the Butler amps and was very happy with bass response. It was clean, fast and pretty deep. The Apex were never lacking for bass but since I replaced my amps with Jolida 3000's (Response Audio Signature mod) the bass is INCREDIBLE!! It's like I added two very high quality subs. It's hard to believe the bass the 4 Extremis put out - clean, super deep when called for, fast, accurate - even at very low listening levels. I really couldn't ask for more. My room is small but has lots of treatments but MAN I guess I had forgotten what nice deep bass was like

I was listening last night and my back was hurting so I thought I'd lay on the floor and listen for awhile. In the past when I did this I realized it was going to be like background music. Man, was I suprised!! I put my head where the pillow is in the picture with my feet going toward the back wall - it was like have a good pair of headphones on, hehe. I listened to a whole album like that (Free - Highway Remaster). It was really incredible! With my previous few pairs of speakers - no way - that was like listening in a different room! I could actually get within 1 foot and between the speakers (at tweeter height) and have very good imaging and soundstage. Pretty amazing dispersion! I got headphones and bass the body feels as a freebe, hehehe
